PROJECT

The existing property is designated Historic Resource #102 and listed as the Holsten-Fairchild Home.

SolutionS

The property features a prominent 2 story Queen Anne (Free Classic) Victorian Style residence with wraparound verandah, ionic order porch columns with decorative spindle work, and flared hip roof with a lower protruding cross gable. The cross gable features a Palladian style window and is decorated with fish scale shingles. Fine architecturaldetailing is visible in the decorative roof brackets, cornice molding, belt-course, dentils, and window and door surrounds of the residence. The new Carriage House is 28′ wide x 24′ deep, with 10′ high walls. Architectural detailing matches the existing historic residence. Roof form and detailing echo the prominent cross gable roof of the house. Horizontal siding matches the siding of the house. Carriage House doors are solid wood roll-up type with decorative hardware. Ventilating cupola features a custom weathervane. All windows, doors, trim, moldings, roof brackets and other Fairarchitectural details were carefully designed to match existing period architecture.
