PROJECT

Prominent features of this design include an expressive continuous covered deck located at the rear of the house, “nana walls”, to optimize circulation into and out of the house, and a definitive craftsman pallet of materials, artfully combined and honestly expressed.

SolutionS

A 5,500 square foot 2 story residence in contemporary Craftsman style.  This house features 5 bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths, and includes a 5 car garage.  The site slopes substantially from front to rear, a factor which drove the split-level design concept.  From grade at the front of the property, a modest entry foyer leads directly to the expansive great room with fireplace as focus of this space.  Exposed decorative hand-made roof trusses define the character of the space.  The generous master bedroom wing over the garages incorporates a home office.  A stair leads from the foyer down to the first floor space, half of which is buried against the earth slope.  The first floor space features a playful recreation room, complete with separate kitchen, bar and bathroom, and an additional bedroom.  Direct access to the garage is provided by a short hall.
